Restoration and Reforestation

Our rehabilitation and reforestation efforts focus on restoring damaged landscapes, preventing further environmental degradation, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of OHV recreation. By working closely with the U.S. Forest Service and local conservation groups, we identify areas in need of restoration and implement strategies to mitigate the effects of overuse.  Rehabilitation efforts begin with assessing degraded trails and surrounding habitats.

We repair eroded paths, install proper drainage systems, and reinforce boundaries with fencing and signage to prevent further damage. In areas where illegal riding or off-trail use has caused significant harm, we work to stabilize the soil and reintroduce native plant species. Our team also removes invasive species that threaten the ecological balance and replaces them with native vegetation to support wildlife and improve watershed health.

Reforestation plays a crucial role in our restoration efforts, particularly in areas affected by wildfires, deforestation, or prolonged habitat loss. We plant native trees and shrubs to reestablish forest cover, increase biodiversity, and restore the natural balance of the ecosystem. Volunteers and community members are encouraged to participate in tree planting events, ensuring that local OHV enthusiasts take an active role in protecting the trails they enjoy.

Through trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and community education, our goal is to create a sustainable future where responsible OHV recreation coexists with a thriving, resilient forest ecosystem. By preserving and restoring these landscapes, we ensure that future generations can continue to experience and enjoy the beauty of the San Bernardino National Forest.
